50 designers revisit the Solvay stool by Jean Prouvé - January/February 2021

At a 23rd auction for the benefit of the association La Source, Chady Najem and Martin Berger present B612.

Shaped from nickel-plated brass plates, the pyramid has angles open to light. This extension is a reminder of the metal shortages, at the time when Jean Prouvé designed the original. The kinetic energy released by the whole, intriguing and playful, is dear to the designer. It is underlined by the gradient hue of the feet, which connect like footbridges to the plateau.

Made by Martin Berger, with an application of volcanic matter and metallic powder, the board floats like a planet, a synthesis of the stable strength of a pyramid and the lightness of light play.

This lunar surface gives its name to the creation «B 612», the asteroid of the Little Prince.

The works are available on and are on sale on the Drouot site, from Thursday 28 January at 10 am until Sunday 7 February 2021 at 6 pm.
