Decorator for exceptional venues

Unique inspirations and precious materials

Above all, Martin Berger is an artist, recognised throughout the world for his contemporary works with a unique signature.

A French-Swiss artist, trained at the Louvre School in Paris, an antiques dealer, specialising in decorative arts, he continued his apprenticeship in workshops creating wall decorations, then developed his first personal artistic activities in the USA.

Back in France, he set up his studio in the heart of the Alps, where he created vibrant and unique works.

Free amplitude or measured stop, curves, or lines give rhythm to his creations. Reliefs, tracings, superimpositions and ruptures suspend the rhythms of time and impart movement.

As a choreographer of matter, Martin Berger draws his inspiration from nature and from the dynamics of gestures and the body. Using multiple processes, he invents new ways of implementing his pieces, which are so many aspects of his insatiable curiosity to survey the unknown, both human and spatial-temporal.

Whatever the subject, he plunges with the same assiduity into the depths of the meticulous preparation that makes him reorganise his space, rehearse, and order each element upstream with a resolve that borders on obsession. And everything starts again in the notebooks, sketches, and streams of ideas on which the artist runs without breaking, at this “time of reverie", the silence that precedes the flash of light. It doesn't matter then if one has to try, discard, try again, redo better without succumbing to seriousness, as long as the concept is flowing and Martin has fun.

With his latest works, the Flows, Martin Berger continues his body-to-body work. He explains: "When the material comes out of the kiln, I have between five and ten seconds to shape it. I have a love and hate relationship with this method, but more like love... we kiss!”

Martin seduces a discerning public – a public that commissions him for his imagination, his signature, his line. His work has found its way into private collections in Paris, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Geneva, Oman, and London.
