The Ateliers Berger chromatic library

The Ateliers Berger chromatic library

It is for a good reason that Ateliers Berger's colour library contains almost 1200 formulas. At the start of each project for their clients, the Ateliers embark on a long colour research process, resulting in a series of nuances, from silver to tan, violet to orange, white to blue...

 A sensitive and tailor-made approach

In the first stage, ten of the best hues are selected, those that best meet the project requirements. After a final selection, only a few of them will be integrated and highlighted during the final presentation to the client.

The approach of Ateliers Berger is resolutely turned toward art because its two founders both have a history intimately linked to it: Martin is a former antiques dealer and Ariane is a dance enthusiast. The direct work of colour on emotion is featured in each work by a personalised, creative, and intelligent approach that, while rigorously aligned with the client's specifications, is also dictated by the inspiration and the execution of the project: the light that it mobilises, the movement that it brings to life, the technique deployed, nothing is left to chance. It is a way of prolonging the gesture and guaranteeing the longevity of each unique mural decoration created by the Ateliers.

Work inspired by research

In the course of this long colour-searching process, which can last weeks, sometimes months, the painter-decorators work with artistic director Martin Berger to develop carefully guarded recipes, the traceability of which is preserved and guaranteed as in a research lab, in the course of a structured, precise and documented approach for each project. This is how our colour library was born and is evolving, always meeting the most audacious challenges: textured surfaces, hybrid models, chiselling, sewing lines, drawings, photographs, braiding, embroidery, and above all architectural marquetry.

Natural materials, pigments, marble, sand, mother-of-pearl powders are used to create the colours, with stability over time as a starting point and a guarantee of depth, power, and finesse of the tone.
