Temple SHINNYO-EN, Paris

The luxurious and monumental wall covering of this haven of peace and serenity in the heart of Paris has been designed to suit its raison d’être: meditation. The Atelier Martin Berger worked with a magnificent terracotta gradient, symbolising the elevation of light. A link of harmony with nature that, upon entering the room, gives a feeling of almost total serenity. The thick granulometry, which also requires precision and concentration, emerges under the pigments, lime, and marble powder, mixed on the spot: a performance and a bold risk, leaving no room for error. On the five-level staircases leading to the terraces and the sky, ginkgo biloba flowers carved directly into the fresh material add poetry and delicacy to the space.

These different décors illustrate the care that Atelier Martin Berger takes to offer a fresh, tailor-made, and sensitive approach to each project, to better tell the stories of the spaces with connections to movement, nature, artistic and imaginary references and to meet the projects’ most demanding constraints.

The approach reflects Martin Berger’s skill in exceptional wall decoration as well as his particular sensibility, both of which stem from his inspiration and proximity to the artistic world.
